If you’re crazy about eating healthy foods, then it would be a good advice that you should become a Nutritionist. This job’s main goal is to stave off illness and disease by encouraging good habits of eating. Sounds easy right?

However, in order to do that, the student must be able to study, interpret, and develop a client’s habits in eating. Since all patients are different, the Nutritionist must be able to create a personalized diet for a particular ailment.

You can take programs on Biology, mathematics, health, and communications. When you do college, go for a nutrition degree program.

The Pharmacist

Pharmacy is an important job as this job requires a lot of knowledge and experience in order to get the right medicine with the right dosage. Too much or little and the patient may be in trouble. There are three positions available if you take up this type of job: the pharmacist, the pharmacist aid, and the pharmacy technicians.

Of the three, the highest paid is the pharmacist. It also entails the one with the most required degree of training. It’s necessary that one earn a doctor of pharmacy from an accredited college or university. There are also various tests and exams that one must pass (depending on the state).

The Medical Coder

The medical coding jobs are important in the sense that they are in charge of accurately translating medical procedures, symptoms, and diagnosis into a code based on a list made up of 10,000+ codes. Yes, cross referencing based on a doctor’s handwritten or tape recorded note is hard, but someone’s got to do it.

Besides all those above, the coder must accurately show how the doctor did his job or the reimbursement claims maybe denied. This job requires someone who has a good knowledge of medical terminology, therefore training should be done and be up to date with the latest med news and programs.

The Doctor Interview

Doctors go to interviews. Although, it may seem that people of this profession work for themselves alone, promotions and transferring to different hospitals require them to undergo a panel interview at times. So, what should they do then?

  • Only apply for a Job that you want: Only apply for a job that you feel you can give 100% to and that will motivate you and give job satisfaction. This way you won’t find yourself in a dead end job and in a trust or geographical area that doesn’t suit you.
  • Pre medical interview homework: By doing your homework you will be in a position to answer the golden rule above and also show what a great candidate you are.
  • Self analysis before your medical interview: Sit down and work out what best 3 skills and attributes you have and think of clinical examples to reinforce them during your medical interview.
  • Push beyond your comfort zone so that you can sell yourself during your medical interview: You will need to sell your attributes to the panel as this is what makes you unique and what makes you different from the other candidates.
  • Request feedback and stay positive: Request feedback and improve in the areas that you underperformed in so that next medical interview is perfect so you can get the job you really deserve.

    Are you a gadget boy stuck inside a pre-med student’s body? Then an Ultrasound Technician job is the right one for you. Imagine you’ll be using a device that looks into a body using sounds! Actually, you’ll be using ultrasounds. This job requires an interest in science good communication skills and enjoy working with others. A two year program on an ultrasound technology from an accredited college is a must to be able to handle this job and the devices involved in it.

    As mentioned before you’ll be performing examinations that generate ultrasound pictures of a person’s internal organs or unborn baby.

    The EMT

    To those who want to drive around in ambulance trucks and saving lives, the Emergency Medical Technician or EMT life may be for you. Yes, they’re the ones who are most likely first on the scene of an accident or shooting, patching people up as much as they can until the patient arrives at the hospital. It’s like driving the Indy 500 most of the time.

    So what does it require one to be an EMT? The applicant needs to complete a course on EMT both through classroom and on-field types. In order to become a paramedic, the EMT must be certified, and have completed a paramedic program.

    Physical Therapist Assistants

    Physical therapy is one of the low radar jobs that seems to be growing. There’s been a study done that shows it’ll grow up to 2012 at least.

    For those who are willing to be physical therapy assistants, you’re in luck. PT assistants help the physical therapists in improving patient’s mobility, pain relief, and somewhat limit permanent physical disabilities.

    PT Assistants earns associate degrees from a PT assistant program. However, some states require PT assistants to get licensed before working. They usually get involved in helping the PT in exercises, electrical stimulation, and more. Besides that, they also do a lot of paperwork.

    A medical laboratory technician, also known as the lab tech, is like the cowboy of the medicinal world.

    Lab techs performs various tests in a multitude of areas like: chemistry, blood banking, immunology, hematology, microbiology, etc. They’re usually in the frontlines of researching into presence, extent, cause, and absence of diseases.

    Just because they’ve got the “laboratory” in their names mean they’re stuck in one. They usually go to places few ever go to: nursing homes, public health facilities, laboratories in different parts of the world, clinics in the seedy part of town, and so on.

    So if you like traveling and medicine, a lab tech maybe the job for you.

    If you are planning to become a physician or doctor, there are two paths that you may take. First, you could pursue allophatic medicine and end up a medical doctor. Second, you could study osteophatic medicine and end up a doctor of osteophatic medicine.

    Audiology is one of the vibrant medical professions these days. In fact, it is one among the top 31 careers for 2008 chosen by the U.S. News and World Report. So, what really are audiologists?

    Basically, audiologists attend to the medical needs of people with hearing loss or impairment. They prescribe the right hearing aid for patients, do research on the subject of hearing loss and develop hearing programs that seek to provide relief and in some cases, treatment.

    The advantage with this job is that hearing devices continue to improve over time which makes the career more promising. Also, only a few people consider it so there is less competition.
