Maybe some people are wondering about the difference between Certified Nursing Aides and Caregivers, because their jobs are some what similar. Here are some hints to recognize them:
Certified Nursing aides are the ones who works under the instructions or supervision of a nursing staff (Nurse in a hospital station). Their work place is hospitals. They are responsible in doing the hygienic procedures to patients as well as feeding of patients, taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, heart rate and oxygen saturation, lastly the maintenance of consistently repositioning of the patients to prevent bedsores. Those are the hints for recognizing nursing aides.
Caregivers are the immediate relatives who renders care to their sick relative, be it their parents or siblings or any person that can be traced in the family tree in first generation, without being paid. The widely accepted definition of it is “Someone whose life is in some way restricted by the need to be responsible for the care of someone who is mentally ill, mentally handicapped, physically disabled or whose health is impaired by sickness or old age.” – Baroness Pitkeathley (1989) It’s my Duty isn’t it? London: Souvenir Press. It the most fundamental sense, caregivers are also known as carers, voluntary caregivers, nursing home (care giving) and a hospice care. This also may refer to a person providing treatment or support to a sick, disabled, or dependent individual.
